'How Do You Spell AI?' by Harshadha Balasubramanian

Editors' Image Descriptions

‘Mop in a long hallway’:

A vertical white cane is in the foreground of the photograph, behind which a white corridor narrows towards a white door. The carpet is grey and textured.

‘Close-up of a pen’:

The same hallway, this time with the top of the cane in focus, its black handle folded down. The brand name ambutech and a colourful logo are angled towards the camera.

‘White and black handle on a carpet’:

The same section of cane is now pictured against the carpet, with a shadow on the soft-focus carpet.

‘Metal rod with a screw on it’:

This time, a jointed section of cane is parallel with the ground, with the photographer's pink trousers, black sock, and stray boot in view.

‘Metal pipes on a carpet’:

The fully-folded cane is stood upright on the carpet.

‘Long white pipe on a white wall’:

Now, the cane is reconstructed, upright against the white wall.

‘Pole with a black handle’:

The cane's black handle, sticker, and part of its top-section is horizontal against the wall.

‘Group of sticks on the floor’:

The cane, folded into six, lies on the carpeted floor. The skirting board bisects the image, with the white wall above.

‘Black cord on a white surface’:

A fuzzy shadow on the wall and, in the top right of photograph, a section of cane. The strap and its shadow are in the top left.

‘A cane in a hallway’:

The black handle of the cane and some of its white length are pictured in the foreground. Behind, the corridor is in sharper focus, and there's more to see: a couple of LED spotlights and perhaps two items of furniture, either side of the white door.
